… my own personal photoshoot with the legend Mardee Maree, all the way from Port Elizabeth!
I have always been fascinated by the Western Movies, with cowboys and indians. I remember clearly as a little girl, being the eldest of 4 girls (my poor parents), I used to nag my dad to take us to the drive in. I knew exactly, somehow, when a Clint Eastwood movie, or any western movie for that matter, was screening. I used to force my parents to take us to the drive in even when it was pouring down with rain. Some of my childhood photos, I was always caught with an immaculate outfit (thanks to my dad), a toy gun in the left hand and a drawing book and pencil in the right hand.
Needless to say, my photoshoot was just about that, the Western inspiration … thank you Mardee Maree for making me feel so comfortable. As a photographer myself, I haven’t invested in photos of myself for a very long time, and boy was it a challenge … and extremely tiring after 4 hours of make-up and shooting!
My confidence of course came from a team that I trust: professional make-up artist and stylist Maureen Grobler and Jodine Viljoen for my hair, and photographer Mardee Maree, and of course Wilson from the Diamond X Cowboy Ranch!!
I just have to mention, I am in general a very energetic and hyperactive person, with serious insomnia and ADHD (and yes I always pull faces, that’s just my thing), and it shows in the photos!!!
Please note that no animals were harmed during this photoshoot … and no disrespect to any culture with the outfits I am wearing!!
